Yoga at Life Balance

We opened our full time yoga studio in February as part of our Wellness Offerings at Life Balance .  It has been our mission since day one to offer classes geared to teach and empower our patrons with healthy lifestyle tools.

Every class is an hour to an hour fifteen minutes long & will include techniques geared to reduce stress and promote balance.  All teachers at Life Balance will emphasize the power of the breath work (pranayama) & the subtle techniques that yoga has to offer.  We like to consider ourselves a Boutique yoga studio and boast a teacher to student ratio that maxes out 1:10.  This should enhance your yoga experience and provide more 1:1 attention from the instructor.  You can expect to have pranayama, asana(physical postures/movement), meditation,  savasana/final resting posture & aromatherapy in each session.

The pranayama techniques that we utilize in every class is called ujjayi breath.  This breath is encouraged for all asana/movement work.  Based on the class theme and emphasis, more advanced techniques may be taught.  As our studio grows in size we will begin to offer set themes for the various time slots as we see fit to cater to the population’s practice needs.  Currently, every class is all levels welcome.  We teach to the middle level and offer modifications as much as possible to accommodate all levels.  If you are brand new to yoga, you may want to arrive 10-15 minutes early and meet with your instructor for helpful tips for navigating through a group class or schedule private lessons with one of our instructors.  We want to emphasize that our studio is fully equipped to train brand new students to yoga as well as seasoned practitioners.

Themes:

Yin Yoga: These classes are geared to be nurturing, restorative, and ultimately healing.  We utilize bolsters, blocks, and straps to enhance the practice and facilitate a deeper opening of the body.

Yoga Conditioning: This class is offered once a week on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00.  Erica teaches this class similar to her days of coaching gymnastics.  The set up includes  a 15 minute warm up with sun salutations, 30 minutes of intense conditioning that includes yoga postures that will safely build strength in the upper body, core, and lower body,  and 15 minutes of yin activities to safely balance out the class.  Don’t be intimidated- the hour will fly by and you will leave feeling invigorated and ready to take on any challenge life has for you.

Yoga + Acupuncture:  45 minutes of therapeutic yoga (stretches to unwind the body), 45 minutes of yoga nidra with auricular acupuncture.  The entire hour and a half is geared to promote relaxation and detoxification of body, mind, and spirit.  This class is offered Wednesday nights from 7:00-8:30 and reservations are a must!  Attendees rave about this session!

Traditional Class: 45-60  minutes of asana.  A basic structure will begin with Sun Salutations, followed by standing postures and finish with floor work.  The techniques go from gross to more subtle (meaning physical postures leading up to meditation and savasana).  The final asana is called savasana, aka corpse posture.  It will be a minimum of 5 minutes in duration to encourage appropriate assimilation of the gross techniques and provide space for meditation for the participant.
